1st-ever National Jute Day, Monday


The country is going to observe the 'National Jute Day' on Monday for the first time. The government took the initiative to observe the National Jute Day on March 6 every year to explore potentials of the golden fibre and boost its demand in both local and international markets. The government has chalked out various programmes, including river rallies, cultural programmes and art competitions, on the occasion. A three-day fair of jute and jute products will be held on March 9-11 at Krishibid Institute in city's Khamarbari area. Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate message on the occasion.
