New Man-Made Gases Found in Atmosphere: Threat to Ozone Layer

Scientists have discovered new gases which are responsible for depletion of ozone layer. The researcher from the University of East Anglia has presented this discovery to the media. According to the researchers, among the four new gases the three gases are CFCs’ and another one is HCFC. Researchers suggested that the sources of these gases are anthropogenic, as they were not found in the air sample of 1960. As modern air sample researchers tested the air of remote Cape Grim Tasmania through polar firn analysis. These gases are building up in a rapidly and although there concentrations are low now they will be a contributing factor in ozone depletion, scientists predicted. The concerning fact due to their unknown source immediate mitigation steps are not possible and in addition, even if emissions are stopped  the affect will remain for a long period of time.
