Tips and story ideas

Good reporters always get the:

Who: Names of people you talked to or photographed, spelled correctly.

What: The name of the event or activity. WHAT is the news? WHAT is the issue?

Where: The exact address and municipality. For example, many people say they live in Reading when they really live in Muhlenberg Township.

When: The time and date.

Describe the scene. Use your senses. What do you see and hear, and maybe smell, taste and feel?

Here’s the most important question: Why should anyone care?

Interview organizers: Why is this important?
Interview participants: Why did you come? What did you get out of this?

Don’t forget photos!
