MEETING WITH HONORABLE MINISTER, MINISTRY OF FOREST AND ENVIRONMENT IN BANGLADESH


On 13, November 2014, the Honorable Anwar Hossain MP, Minister for Environment and Forests, and Secretary MoEF, graciously meet with Attorney Charlie Brown President, World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry, of Washington DC, USA; three representatives from Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO), Dhaka, Mr. Syed Marghub Murshed, Chairman; Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary-General; and Ms. Siddika Sultana, Executive Director about the need for Bangladesh to move toward mercury-free dentistry, and to ratify the new Minamata Convention on Mercury, which the government signed in October 2013. Environment and Social Development Organization- ESDO continued building the healthy relationship with ministry of environment, family welfare and public health and also with key stakeholders in the dental sector.  Additionally, ESDO have focused on dialogue with dental colleges to ensure that the next generation of dentists in Bangladesh is fully informed of the dangers of dental amalgam.
